On the evening of November 6th the Cavendish Community Fund sponsored a dinner at the Golden Stage Inn on Depot Street in Proctorsville. The dinner served a dual purpose. First, it raised money for the Fund and second it introduced Innkeepers Mike and Julie Lynn Wood to the community. Mike and Julie Lynn bought the Inn last summer and have been busy hosting guests and getting ready for ski season, but took the time to meet and greet many Cavendish residents. The lasagna dinner was a rousing success in that it raised close to $1,500 for the fund. The Community Fund was begun in 2007 by members of the Community and Conservation Association. It has since distributed over $18,000 in grants to local individuals and groups for artistic, cultural and educational programs, projects and events to benefit Cavendish residents. All of the money that the fund has distributed was raised in Cavendish through local fundraisers. The fund depends on the generosity of its residents and has not been disappointed.
