The CCCA Energy Committee provides the town of Cavendish with assistance and support on a variety of energy and conservation related issues.
Ranging from plans to expand recycling at the solid waste transfer station to plans for replacing all town street lights with super high efficiency LED lighting, the committee continues to pursue ways to make our town greener while saving taxpayers money.
In 2010 the committee successfully applied on behalf of the town for a $50,000 state energy retrofit grant that will significantly cut energy usage in the town offices and in the town garage. Another current high priority project is to install photovoltaic panels on the roof of the elementary school to significantly cut school electricity costs.
The committee is also pursuing plans to install photovoltaic panels in other parts of the town to reduce town energy costs. The committee is looking for new members with fresh ideas and a willingness to pitch in.
